Does it matter? There's nothing that could've been said that would justify a physical assault.

Is it common in France for its men to be so unmanly that they have to attack people at every little word? Be a man, have confidence and courage, and walk away from the man calling you names.

The exact words we don't know...Zidane has said in the interview on Canal Plus (French TV) last night that he was insulted about his mother & sister & heard this three times. He has denied that the word "Terrorist" was used and has said he will be happy to give evidence to FIFA who have opened an enquiry. Zidane is due to give a written report of the event to FIFA, who will then copy it to Materazzi to look at it & respond. This all takes place on 20 July so we will find out the exact words then.

Hopefully Materazzi will get some kind of punishment - his behaviour is appalling, he should share the blame with Zidane for his part in the provocation.

Whatever the world champion told Zidane an intelligent person would have not answered but played the last ten minutes of the game and proved on the field who was better -

A child would have repeated the same insult to the offender.

an idiot would have done what Zidane did, forever disgracing his own image and making his team lose the world cup.

VAE VICTIS

I'm loving these answers...how about "Hey are you hooking up with Barthez after the game...he seems your type?"

or "It's about time you're retiring...I mean in the last two games you had to score on penalty shots..oh wait were they really penalty shots?...Oh I get it they're feeling sorry for you. I mean I do!"

Who cares what he said...Zidane's actions were absolutely unnecessary! And you know what his so called apology was absurd...don't apologize if you don't mean it. That's we tell the kids!
