A number in the Multi thousands but impossible to discern exactly. "The" Inquisition began in earnest in the 11th or 12th century and supposedly taperd off with the end of the infamous Spanish Inquisition.but instances of both torture and official programs still may be observed among both Protestant and Catholic; Notably in Africa.

hmm - on record 15? which record? Because I went to a Catholic elementary school and they taught that they inquisition killed thousands in Europe (maybe only "hundreds" on record), but it was a bad time to be accused of not believing in the "true faith."
Don't forget the crusades...bad time to be anything but a Christian. And best not to be too smart. (You might not be a Christian if you were smarter than everyone else.)
Witchhunts started during the crusades, I believe, when the Christians were bound and determined to stamp out the pagan ways of the original inhabitants of the British Isles and Ireland.
The Puritans brought witch-hunts with them to the Americas.

Estimates range from 500,000 to over 9 million. The lower numbers may not take into account those who died in the prisons; the higher numbers may take into account deaths not atributed to the Inquisition and Burning Times.

Estimates are impossible, since in some cases entire towns were wiped out, leaving no one to bear witness against the atrocities.
And what makes you think witch-hunting is in our past?

Thousands! And most of them were women who were healers whom the church blamed for the downfall of Man from Eden and for using witchcraft and thus worshipping the Devil!

Nobody knows for sure--they didn't keep accurate records, but there were thousands, if not millions. One town in Germany had everyone killed except one person.
