we are putting in a ventilation system in the basement for a poker room...but i am having a hard time finding a simple ventilation system, other than just lowes and home depot...any suggestions? they wanted to give us the answer of one like over a stove! not good enough~ and that would look silly!

You can check out residential smoke eaters. A little more pricey than Lowes or Home Depot but much better looking and made to remove second hand smoke.

Stop smoking. Other than that, you might be able to install a small fan in one of the basement windows (that is if you have one). You could always install a bathroom fan as well in some far corner. It would be out of site (mostly) and shouldn't make too much noise to disturb the boys.

Don't let anyone smoke inside, but if they do how about an exhaust fan in the upper side wall. I have one in a greenhouse/sun-room in case it gets too hot inside.

do you have any windows down there? I think adding windows would help... we had a basement with upper windows and REAL airflow is the best way to air out a basement

How about the same systems that bars and other places use, SmokEater. I know they have different sizes for different applicatiobs
