I dont think your a bum, you have paid your support and helped her. You should be proud of that. As for the college thing, I think the only person who can say for sure is your lawyer. Like someone else said......check your original court order and read it carefully. Ask yourself, who is paying his expenses and for his college......and just do the right thing.

Yes, one of the stupid laws passed by the feminists that is part of the reason so many men are avoiding marriage is that one which in many states does indeed force men to pay "child support" for legal adults. So what if some "bum" decides he doesn't want to put his kid through college, when he hasn't even been allowed to see those kids. That's the price women pay for getting divorced like they change their cars or shoes.
As far as that statement that in some states kids get the money themselves when they are 16, don't bet on it. They are still legally minors, and it is very unlikely they will be handed significant child support checks to do with as they please, while mom or dad has to hustle to pay their food and dental bills, etc.

The answer to this question depends on the Court Order. If the order stipulates that you pay until the child is finished with school, then he could live in Brazil and you'd still have to pay mom. If it stops at 18, then you wouldn't, but you really should send the boy some money.

If you are still required to pay support because he is in college {sometimes it goes for as long as they are in school, or 25 years of age} but instead of sending the payments to his mother, send it to him at his dorm. He's the one needing it and who it is suppose to go towards for support, so why would you be sending it to her still? Send the money to him at his dorm room.

you are a bum first of all. Of course you owe the support if that is what your court agreement says. I hate you men haveing kids and then running off and thinking that you do not have to support them. he is your son why are you even asking such a question you knocked her up you are responsible no questions that 's why I say you are a bum.

Check your divorce papers. That's where it will tell you when you can discontinue paying. All states are different. You can also add or take away items from your particular divorce. That's why I am surprised you don't know that.
