No it is just the fact that white people do not want to here about it. I want to know why white people insist on saying blacks direct the past towards todays whites today. It's no way to avoid race or unfair treatment as long as we discuss history. Unless you lie about history which will only add to the problem.
White people always say Blacks bring up their history as a "excuse for their failures" "lazy and wanting a handout" or " they live in the past" "get over it you were not a slave neither did I own a slave" or "the Jews, Indain, Irish, etc don't complian about so you should get over it" or better yet it was "LONG AGO".
None of which are true, Black don't remember it for none of the reason they states. The one who do remember think they should so it want happen again, also untrue. Blacks should remember their history because it's theirs, hundreds of years we where told we don't need history and the slave master and non slave owners whites were hell-bent on erasing the history of blacks. Their goal was to destroy your history and to keep you a fool and they admitt it. That's how you will keep yourself under dictators of others is by being a fool of the truth.
Fact,to forget the past is the same as forgetting your history. Becuase your history goes hand in hand with whites history. So you can't in no way dicuss fully your history without discussing the mistreatment of whites. If you forget your current history then you can't blame it on whites because you made the choice to listen to them by saying forget the whole thing, this time you wasn't force to. Now think about all that effects the decision to forget and not remeber the past. It would mean you support the crimes being committed against your people. It means the people that where oppression 400 years for yours and mostly their benefit go in vain. You let others slander against your ancestors by saying their all died, when they unwillingly died to benefit them. Israel was slaves 400 years and freed by God not Pharoah to serve him. Surely after that long they would know the difference between Slavery and oppression vs freedom. God never wanted Israel to forget this because that was way he freed them to remember the good he has done. The enemy has decieve us by saying the Lincoln freed the slaves. Making it seem as if the oppressors are the heros. But 100 years latter they still wasn't free. It was God that your people was praying about freedom they never had, It was your people who was singing many songs about freedom to God. God didn't get us freedom to forget our past or history he want that to be a reason to understand how good he has been to you. Israel was curse for forget this let's not do the same, they forgot him even before the left the land. They never made it to the promise land, "But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land."
But last but not lest is not to follow that old slave master plan: "for they say that the mind has a strong drive to correct and recorrect itself over a period of time if it can touch some substantial original historical base and they advise us that the best way to deal with this phenomenon is to SHAVE OFF THE BRUTES MENTAL HISTORY and create a multiplicity of phenomena of illusions, so that each illusion will twirl in its own orbit, something similar to floating balls in a vacuum"

Again, I agree with you. But the way you present it is not the way it is always presented. There are many people out there blaming their current problems on the current white people. There are a lot of people who are not simply pointing out the past, they're making demands using the past as an excuse.
It's a fine line, and I know that many white people respond to the historical conversations poorly. But, out of curiosity, when is it over? When does the unfair start become moot? Two hundred years from now, will black people still be telling white people that blacks had an unfair start? And when will the "compensation" for the unfair start end? When would it be correct to stop giving advantages based on race alone?
The key, to me, is still how do we get to the point where race isn't so important? Where blacks and whites are equal and we can talk about something other than race. Or is that too much to hope for?
And keep in mind that each new generation brings you a trade-off. Where each new generation has less and less race bias, they're also another step removed from the horrors of the past and don't relate to it as closely.

Talk about beating a dead horse. The fact that you are bringing it up and carrying on about it, and further, calling yourself a "black" instead of just another American is exactly where most of the "racism" comes from today. So get off it already!
Take a lesson from the Indians who are, as a cultured people, infinitely more oppressed and previously mistreated than the "black" culture was, is or ever will be. They took what they got from a selfish, marauding new government and race of people and they have stood by their values, morals and beliefs and have built a wonderful and prosperous way of life for themselves and for their generations to come. They're not moping around free clinics or standing in stamp lines or having babies just so the monthly welfare check will increase. Neither are they running around constantly bickering over the fact that the U. S. Government slaughtered thousands of them and forcibly corralled them into "reservations" still segregated today from the rest of American society.
Quit trying to get people to reconize something that is long, long over with, settled and forgotten. Get out there, be fruitfull and multiply, and most of all, be thankful that whatever color you are you live in the Land of the Free and YOU have every single opportunity available to you NO MATTER what happened to your great - great - great - great - grandfather and/or his grandfather.

Is this emotional disturbance and inner turmoil that causes such a hardship on your life due to your color or the attitude you possess within? Perhaps you should look in the mirror and see what you need to work on (attitude???) . Maybe then you can get over all this hardship occurring in your life because people will see a great person not your color. Oh...FYI Maybe you should do some more research. Did you know that white people were slaves too? Ya..check it out

I didn't see your last question...My understanding of the definition of racism is race prejudice together with power. White people want to forget the 150 years in which white people alone held the power. As you pointed out, segregation and Jim Crow laws still affect our society, but white people don't like to acknowledge that. Unfortunately, white Americans tend to have a short memory span, and think if something happened over 5 years ago it's ancient history and doesn't affect us.
I think the root causes of racism and the imbalance of power are still very much affecting people of color in the U.S. Until issues of power and understanding the deep roots of racism in our society are addressed, racism will continue its destructive power.

I agree that black people need the special scholarships and I think the "Reverse discrimination" that is practiced in college admissions is a good thing. I think black people have had the disadvantage of history and also in most their economic environments- poor schools. I think there is a lot of catching up to do and it is owned to the black community by the U S Government- not "Whites".

Alright already with all this! History is history and many groups had an unfair start. What is the point of pointing out these facts that most of us know? We do recognize the past. We are reminded of it all the time, especially in February.

Please, please, please try your best not to lump all white people together, or all black people together. Believe or not, a WHOLE lot of people from all different races (it is not just about black and white) agree with you on this. Tell me, on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis, do you personally deal with a lot of bs because of your race? It could be demographics, for pete's sake. Or not, I just like to ramble on with possibilities.
