You sir are very brave to step forward in your situation to say these things and to be admired for your candor in speaking of things that must at times break your heart...I am an American--and I am not satisfied with alot of what I see in the world today--this rift among the people's of the world in God's name is horrifying to me---it is an abomanation to say the very least
Most people in America do not know anything else but the freedom to do as we see fit--and that makes us very self important at times----But far more-- I suspect-- than some of your news services would ever admit to--Americans are coming to an understanding that it is the radical edge of what some WANT TO CALL ISLAM that is at the heart of the conflicts that exist....We too have our radical edges that want to take down anything different from what they consider American---all of this makes for one dangerous mix and how it will turn out is a gamble at the very best
As long though as there are those on both sides teaching and training people to hate in the name of God---this thing that exists between the two opposing views is going to be at odds in the hardest ways for far too long for it to be a comfort to anyone in anyway whatsoever
It is my sincere desire to see peace in the world and it is through efforts of dialog and the attempts by people like yourself to reach out beyond the turmoil with truth and simple straight forward talk that some of our best possible hope resides
The best to you and your family--may God bless and keep you safe from harm--and may we all find a way to talk our way to some center ground over the next little while before the lunatics and war mongers take us all to our graves (marked or unmarked)

I hear you my friend. Most Americans are not anti-Muslim, they know this country was founded on religious freedom as one of its main principles. The problem is that there are many stupid people in America who get whipped up into a frenzy, we here are very scared, very terrorized mostly by our leaders rhetoric, constant flow of fear to control us... We do not discriminate unless we have gotten to the point that we are so scared we deny our prinicples, many people have...
The person who answered first, about Iranians not taking to the streets, is truely in need of a basic history course. She doesn't know about the revolution in your country at all... total ignorance.
I personally will appoligize on behalf of my "democratically elected" (not) leader for drumming up such hatred against Islam. I know it is wrong and I am sorry that he said that on our behalf.
Many smart Americans understand that Islam is a religion of peace, and in comparison with other faiths - Judaism or Christianity, far less murder and blood has been shed in the name of Islam.
Hold your faith close. I appreciate your beliefs even though I am an agnostic.
This is why America really is a place where freedom can be found, it is just getting tougher to hold on to it everyday, because like Islam, it is under attack by certain people in this country... neo-cons, right-wing fanatics and typically Republicans and Democrats alike... people know what is going on though.

I wish there were more people like you: Muslims who are willing to speak out against those who have perverted your religion.
We had our own version of al-Queda here in the US for nearly a century. They ran around the Deep South, lynching innocent people and burning churches, all in the name of Christianity. They wriggled their way into some of the highest levels of government, including the US Senate. They called themselves the Ku Klux Klan, and while they didn't fly airplanes into buildings or blow themselves up on commuter buses, they were every bit as evil.

Well said Sam, but what I don't understand is why the Iranian people don't take to the streets and utterly rebel against their government.
Use some People power. You have a nation of well educated, passionate, freedom loving people - why don't you knock the goverment out?
Further to 'enlightenments' comments, Sam, I am not ignorant of your countries history - quite the opposite in fact, and I stand by my comments.

I believe most of the people of the world do not have ill feelings for the Iranian people. They do however have serious grave concerns in regards to your current leadership and the road they insist on going down. What would you like to see happen?

There are many of us who do not hold all Muslims or Iranians responsible for what is happening. The majority of muslims are peaceful, wonderful people, that just want to live in peace and raise their families. Please don't think that everyone hates you, there are many who understand that this is hurting you too.

WHERE ARE ALL THOSE SO CALLED MODERATE PEACE LOVING MUSLIMS. ALL I EVER HEAR IS OF THESE MODERATE MUSLIMS IS WHEN THEY FEEL ITS OK TO POP UP THEIR HEADS ABOVE THE TRENCH THEY DUG FOR THEMSELVES. ALL YOU HEAR IS THAT THE TERRORISTS ARE A MINORITY OF UNHAPPY SOULS. WHICH MEANS THAT THE MAJORITY OF MUSLIMS ARE MODERATE AND PEACE LOVING. SO WHY DONT THE WORLD HEAR FROM THE MAJORITY OF PEACEFUL MUSLIMS.......SILENCE JUST AS ONE WOULD EXPECT. LET THE WORLD HEAR THE VOICE OF THE MUSLIM MAJORITY. JUST ONCE UNITED TOGETHER TO SAY. "NO MORE. SUICIDE BOMBS", "NO MORE KILLING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE". "NO MORE VIOLENCE".....JUST ONCE. THEN MAYBE THE REST OF THE WORLD WOULD LISTEN. AT LOT MORE CLOSELY.
