It seems to tie in with other things ive seen written... including the Bible.... perhaps there is a common thread there of sorts, like seeded in our right brain somewhere are secrets of ancients that are far from being primitive, prhaps just lost through a period of being subject to different universal force governing what is reality.

The Necronomicon, so far as I know, was an invention of the horror writer H. P. Lovecraft. He provided the only original information on it; I believe others have added to the legend. Basically, he wanted a horrific, scary book, and built one using common threads from other works.

The "Necronomicon" is not real. It was made up by H.P. Lovecraft, and characters in his stories sometimes refer to it as an ancient magical text. Some companies have published dull and rather silly "translations" that they've made up. Part of the power of Lovecraft's writing was that he drew upon a mythos he created, full of ancient texts and gods that granted his stories a creepy verisimilitude.

If the Necronomicon interests you, I suggest going to the source and read some of the stories by Lovecraft. AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS is a good starting point.

Oh Lord, not another one.

There is no such object as "The Necronomicon", except in the imagination of people who just can't resist the temptation to spook themselves into believing in SOMEthing.

My companion is right, H.P. Lovecraft's fiction is the source of the myth. Any book you find, any tome ANYone offers you (especially for a hefty price) labelled "Necronomicon" is a fake.

There are enough mysteries in the world without inventing faux ones.
