I bought two lionhead goldfish this week and it seems like they are very hungry. I feed them very well. I give them three pinches and they eat that within 2 minutes and i give them two pinches twice a day. Am i feeding them enough?

Yes as a matter of fact you are I usually feed my fish once a day and I have 22 tanks ranging from 10 - 100 gal. if you over feed them the water will get cloudy that or your fish might get "ich" so yes your feeding them plenty. Fish swim at a much happier pace when a little hungry!

Goldfish are very funny fish :) They're always hungry and eating is prettymuch all they're ever interested in. However, for the most part, a hungry goldfish is a healthy goldfish. Overfeeding with fish is much more of a problem, and much more common, than underfeeding. Don't be alarmed if you're fish is always wanting to eat. In the wild, fish are used to never knowing when their next meal will be, and goldfish don't seem to have grown out of this as they just assume that everything could be their last meal ;)

Variety can make it more interesting for both you and your fish. Do some research on different types of freeze-dried foods, and another thing you can do is slice up an orange. You can buy veggie clips, or simply slip part of it under a decoration to keep it in one spot. Orange is a healthy treat for your fish, and I also find it makes the water smell better ;) If it hasn't had it before it might not take to it right away, but try it a couple times.

Always remember to remove the orange within about four hours or so just to make sure it doesn't start to go bad.

I have lionheads too. Everytime i pass by the tank, they quickly swim up and start opening their mouths and asking for food and making those 'smacking' noises with their mouths. I had the same question you had before and i didn't know the answer and i kept feeding them. They got really fat haha. But yes, you are feeding them enough.

Goldfish is actually a great eater and likes to eat alot. No matter how much food you give them they will keep on eating even though they are actually full already. Feeding too much will lead to water pollution due to too much waste. And also stamach too heavy and cannot swim properly. In the end lead to sickness and to death.

Yes You Are, Just Like Every other animal , dogs, cats, fish anything can become hungry and over eat, over feeding them can make them die, and cause your tank to become very dity, i have my own tank full of fish and love them, I also work at a pet shop.

perhaps you are feeding them to much! as long as they eat all of the food I would only feed them 1-2 times a day don't let them train you (to feed them every time they swim to the top) Its possible to more harm by over feeding them

I assume that you're feeding a flake food. Buy several different types and vary their feeding, that way they're getting a better diet and you know they're getting enough. But really, they're just like puppies and they beg and wiggle everytime they see you.
(be sure to get them a vegetable=type food so they don't get constipated_
