Can I melt copper in a kiln safely?

does it need to be clean.will it splatter.whats the melting temp.

hardly I just have wire I want to make flat for fusing with glass geezzz

I do not know the melting tempature but yes it will pop and exslode if it hit a damp mold I know it does with sand
