Use boric acid. For a more reliable result use an exterminator.

As a former owner of multi-unit properties, I know all to well about ROACHES and trying to get rid of them. Boric acid will control them but not get rid of them completely unless you just got them, but if they have been around for a while it won't eliminate them entirely. The same holds true for the other common methods: bombs, sprays etc.
Years ago there was a product sold via mail order, that would kill roaches, I don't know how many they sold, but it was two blocks of wood and came with instructions.
One thing I found that totally eliminated the roaches in a four family house was ( I don't know if I can use a brand name here) a product that comes in a syringe and the active ingredient is Hydramethylnon. If you live in a multi-family house all units must use it for it to work.
Being clean doesn't make any difference to roaches they will eat wallpaper paste if can't find anything else.

First, clean up all food left out or crumbs on the floor. Place roach traps near all electrical appliances. Roaches love warm places. IE the last resort is to remove everything in your kitchen and buy an insect bomb from Home Depot. Good Luck, I hate roaches.

Way back in the day, I lived in an apartment so roaches would be inevitable. I used boric acid (you can buy at any drug store) and it worked great. Its in powder form so just put some in cabinets, behind the stove, under the sink, etc. If you have any pets, make sure to put it where they cant get to it.

If you can't afford to bring in a pest control service, you could try store-bought (i.e. bug spray, roach motels, etc) roach killers and see if they work. If they don't then you probably will have to resort to getting a pest control service to come in.
