Oil, money and power. The war is costing like $300 million A DAY to keep going. A lot of very wealthy people are growing wealthier every day. Dick Cheney alone has seen his Hallibrton stock options from over $30 million since he had Bush invade Iraq just 4 years ago. Hell of a return on an investment, as long as you don't mind the thousands of dead American soldiers.

People have short memories. Here goes, check the facts:

1) Saddam gasses the Kurds in his own country.
2) Saddam invades Kuwait.
3) Kuwait asks an ally for help (us, the U.S.A.).
4) We say to Saddam, don't attack us, we are helping Kuwait keep you out, not attacking you, but just giving them the means to defend themselves.
5) Saddam attacked us, three times.
6) We attacked back, telling Saddam to stop or we would continue.
7) They continued to attack. We eventually drove them back to Baghdad.
8) Saddam gets a cease-fire (NOT peace) if he agrees to complete access for U.N. inspectors.
9) U.N. inspectors get the run-around for a decade while Saddam brags to his allies that he has WMDs and tries to convince everyone except the inspectors that he has them.
10) We take him at his word, since he did have them at one time, and won't let the U.N. check.
11) He attacks our planes in the "no fly zone" between Kuwait and Iraq, repeatedly, over a decade, snipper style.
12) Saddam has broken the cease-fire every way he can.
13) We go in for the second time under the present President Bush. We win the war.
14) We stay and now fight terrorists trying to undermine a democratically elected government. When they can stand on their own and take on the terrorists, we'll leave.

It was never about Osama, or any of that. It was about the cease-fire Saddam broke repeatedly. In addition, he tried to assassinate President Bush (the first one), after the First Gulf War. Sounds like a breaking of the cease-fire to me!

All this other stuff is people trying to simplify things to make other people look foolish. The reasons they give, some are true, some are not, but no action by a government is based on ONLY ONE reason. That's how morons think. None of our Presidents have been morons, despite the seditious people who try to paint them as such to gain political points.

Great, simple question. Keep searching. Learn all sides. Double check the facts. Don't give in to unfounded rumors, name-calling, or people who undermine our country in the name of Free Press. They don't need to. They CHOOSE to.

The Iraq war is about the US wanting to dominate the country to weed out terrorism. Purportedly, US was there to stop the country from being controlled again by terrorist leaning organizations. Curtailing terrorism is the only reason why US is in Iraq.

Giving Iraq back to the Iraqi people, removing the terrorist threat from Iraq (and the rest of the world) and removing Saddam Hussein (hope I spelled that correctly) and the rest of his thugs from power.

It is a huge, unconsciously taken, step towards the ultimate downfall of an empire. But let us not overdramatize the sad eventuality. America will not be the first or the last superpower to fall.

It's about Georgie W. Bush getting his way and fighting a war built on lies. That is the only true and correct reason.
