It WILL ......IF the electron affinity toward the nucleus is SIMILAR topaint thinner. A rule of thumb in Prganic Chem is "Like Dissolves Like."

No, Iodine does not dissolve in paint thinner. Paint thinner is typically turpentine, C10H16, an organic solvent.

When dissolved, Iodine would make an ionic salt.

Turpentine is a good organic solvent yet it is not suitable for dissolving ionic compounds.
