you have to have original work, a good storyplot, good, detailed characters. you cant let the characters seem too...unnatural. they have to have feeling. the storyline and plot must match. mostly some kind of hero with a traumatic past is used. your work must be fresh, it must be clean, it must be something attractive to a wide range of people.

you must have the endurance to draw all the comics (i know i dont' have that kind of hand endurance even though i play the violin). your character's look also has to be new, original, and amazing, just like your story.

if you're trying to be a writer for Marvel, good luck! it's gonna be hard getting to contact them!

(you don't know how many times i've tried that with a publishing company only to know htat they don;t accept new arrivals, so how do new books come in???)

Lots and lots of talent. It's almost impossible to have your first job in comics be with Marvel. They pluck most of their talent from other places.

You can submit scripts to them if you'd like, but they would have to be incredibly good. Two of the biggest keys are character development and story pacing. And of course you have to know the comic scripting method if you don't already.

One last thing, most scripts submitted without drawing are not read. If you can also draw, or team up with an artist, you're much more likely to get attention.

Start by creating your own comic and sell it to a local comic book dealer, or take it to a con. Alot of big name writers started out writing for very small publishers. Good Luck.

Way too much...

A friend of mine submitted a treatus for a new character. Marvel sent a letter of interest, so she sent in the script.

After 6 weeks we finally got told it wasn't what they were looking for.

So a few months ago she sent the same stuff to dark horse, and I kid you know they loved it.
