in the series i never hear her talk about her mother or brothers, do anyone know?

there was an episode (the one where she started to work for vouge) where her father is mentioned.
he left her and her mother when she was a little kid, and they show a photograph of her and her father (it said dad and carrie age 3)

I dont think they ever discussed her family on the show but I know in real life sjp came from a large family in the midwest
