We are a violent race. Will we always be this way? Or will we quickly be turned into yuppies who don't know how to fire a weapon? Can peace ever really be possible?

Honestly, I think the answer, yes. There will always be conflict between humans. Because there will always be some people who don't want to follow the rules, or hurt others. The best thing you can hope for is peace with yourself...

It is in human nature to be violent and compete amongst each other for dominance, especially about differences. But morals come from the defiance of human nature. It boils down to the question of safety, every human has survival instincts, we want to survive, so if we set up rules against violence which will possibly harm us, and instill it in our children then we are safer. Personally, i don't believe that world peace is possible, its very unrealistic. There will always be rebels, and that's somewhat of a good thing when it comes to government. For instance, I will never not have a weapon in my house. And my children will know all about guns, gun safety, and the importance of protecting themselves. The 2nd Amendment was put in place so that we can defend our homes and ourselves against criminals who try to harm us, the innocent; it is also there so that we can defend ourselves if the government gets too strong, so that the people are able to overthrow a false-democracy. That's why too much gun-control scares me. Violent, yes; but we also have the gift of reason, and as long as there are honorable people who will fight for moderate peace around them (a paradox this is, yes, but also true) reasonably moderate peace is possible, and reform is possible.

Yes peace is possible but not through human rule but rather by Godly rule and his son Yeshua (Jesus) will Rule for 1000 years. Humankind will not like it but it will be a fact. Just hide and watch. It will happen and the news reflects it daily. It has to get worse before it can get better but man when its better it will be exellent. In the mean time fight like there is no tommorrow to be different in God's ways than the world thinks today.

Social stigma prevents violence from being popular.

It's against human nature and has become a norm.
