i found this. a bought with childhood lupus left the scars

Seal was born Sealhenry Olusegun Olumide Samuel, in Paddington, England. His parents were Adebisi Samuel, a Nigerian immigrant, and Francis Samuel, a Brazilian immigrant. A bout with the childhood illness, lupus, left him with distinctive facial scarring. After school, he studied architecture and engineering.

Some say that they are acne scars others say they are tribal markings taken from Seal's ancestral roots. I don't think the correct information has ever been reported, so I guess the question will always stand.



Then again, according to the previous responses, I may be wrong ;o)

They are tribal markings (like tatoos) on his face which represent his culture. They're not scars.
