As far as driving on the left goes, I suppose you will quickly adapt to it - I have tried driving on the right but admittedly not in a city as busy as London. However, if you are driving around London unless you have somewhere to park you are probably better getting a taxi in my opinion (there is a congestion charge for central London, £7/day I think).
Our Interstate roads are called motorways, Labelled M1, M2, M3 etc. They have a maximum speed limit of 70mph but are often congested and subject to roadworks.
Hope you enjoy your time in England.

I definetely wouldn't drive and I would even discourage taking the taxis as they are very expensive (even for Londoners, let alone Americans with our dollar being in the toilet right now). Take the buses or the subway (or the Tube as they call it). It's far cheaper, there are lots of routes, and it's really easy to figure out. I figured out within days of arriving to London. Don't be intimidated by mass transit. It's the best way to get around London, and for that matter, the entire country.

I have never been to the UK but my man is from there and I have friends from there. They say that taking a taxi is expensive. Trains and buses are cheaper. Driving is crazy there. My man has been hit by a car 3 times in his lifetime. If you think you are gonna be confused and uncomfortable driving there, then don't do it. I know friends who have been in car accidents over there, and it's their own country. London is a very busy place and very fast paced. Just be careful while you are there. Say hi to my boyfriend for me. I wish I was there now! :-(

Drive in central london and you will pay conjestion charge of £8 per day, park and you will be charged between £10 and £50 per day. Get ticket for parking on road and you will have to pay £100 for having clamp removed or £180 to £240 if your car towed away. Better using taxi or public transport in central london

Driving in UK is not backwards to your place, it's the other way round,
and yes use a taxi, or spend all day and lots of dollars looking for somewhere to park

forget the taxi they're too expensive take your car and drive around backward and if you do drive head for central London you'll love the congestion charge and remember to use all and any motorways for an experience you'll never forget.
p.s we're not backward you are!

In London, get a cab, the drivers (cab drivers mostly) are nasty, vicious and down right rude to anyone that is at all unsure of themselves.
yeah, there are"interstates" we call them motorways, you probably wont recognise them since ther are a poor version of what you are used to.
Thanks for calling our driving backwards, you are of course correct. Its way better to gearshift with your right hand
