Switch over to biodiesel and other alternate fuels. That might bring down the prices. Part of why our gas prices are so high has to do with the fact that we as a nation depend on gasoline heavily. We drive more than any other nation. In Atlanta,GA, commuters spend more on their commutes that any other US city and now gas over there is ranging towards $3 and higher. There is a man in Bellingham,WA who makes biodiesel from used vegetable oil. The rest of the nation needs to catch on and use alternative fuels and we also need to fix our public transportation systems in America and make them more up to date like the ones in Europe and Japan. It can be done. We just need to do so.

Why don't you go a step further and ask what we are going to do about our veracious appetite for fossil fuels. We need to become less dependent and develop new technologies for the future. Our grandchildren and their grandchildren are going to be affected by what we do today. I think the environment is much more important than whining and crying about paying 3 or 4 or even 10 dollars a gallon. People complain constantly about gas prices, meanwhile they are driving around in these massive suv's.

Tell him that you understand why the prices are high and thank him for trying to help. Then go out and study and find out why what you wrote to him is true. A big factor in high gas prices is Wal Mart. A hugh fraction of their stuff is from China. This means that China is a growing economy and needs oil. This boosts prices.

Well, I admire your thinking, but I have to say, Bush is very involved in the oil industry, so the chances of him lowering gas prices is probably slim to none. That is one issue I have a problem with in Bush's presidency. He has the ability to lower the prices, but he is not!!

Dear Mr. President,
Thank You for keeping the prices below what 80% of the rest of the world pays even though we use 60% of the oil produced.
Please don't listen to the hug a shrub people and let us drill for more than the estimated 500 years worth of oil that is still within our reach.
And please help entrepeneurs search for alternative sources of energy by allowing grants and incentives(NOT SUBSIDIZED BY THE OIL COMPANIES)

If you really want to lower gas prices, drive less.
If everybody did that, there will be less demand on the oil system and they'll have to seek out consumers of the product.

Don't bother, if that letter even gets opened before going in the garbage, Bush wouldn't waste his time reading a letter from a civilian. Even if he did, he is so involved in the oil industry he would never make it less value.

Why don't the American people solve the problem on their own! Stop buying loads of motorized recreational vehicles, ATVs, SUVs, jet skis, snowmobiles and other stupid gas guzzling crap!
Ride a bike or take a walk, or use public transportation!
