WHAT AN EXCELENT QUESTION!! I would love to know the answer to that one! To me, it just goes to show even more how the world, govt., president, whomever and whatever I can place blame upon is ****** UP!!!
What about the violence in video games, movies, sending our children to fight the wars, and then of course you have people that blame our music, etc. etc. etc.
All I have to say is ....."Truly, fu

I don't believe wars are the answer to anything.
The fact that there are wars going on around the world today is proof that the human race is not very intelligent at all.
The reason kids learn about the wars is because they need to learn the history of their country.
Although I think that they should also tell them that negotiations would have been a much better way to solve the problem and that many people died in those wars including Americans.

I agree that you are comparing 2 different things. Wars are violent. But violence doesn't always mean war. I think the violence they are trying to keep kids away from in not on the scale of a war that has so many other things involved than just the violence of it. We just happen to hear and see news only about the violence.

It was never taught , that war solved anything or that it was the best answer. History is the past. Learning the past is suppose to teach and hope that the mistakes made are not repeated. Of course that is what it should be, but we all know that it is not in reality that way! Shame.

Wars are fought for a variety of reasons. Freedom, usually. Seems people want to fight over religion too. Seems dumb to me. We teach kids that violence is not the answer because most of the violence that happens around them is senseless.. and can be averted with "diplomacy"

It is in human nature to destroy, and this is also a learned behaviour which has been passed on for many generations. It is really just the nature of humanity, and of our history.
Human nature is also inherently hypocritical. We will constantly say one thing and do the other, ofter while saying the opposite.
It is also our tendancy to glorify violence in the media (not just tv shows and movies but in the "legitimate media" of newspapers and tv news) and force it on the public. To say that violence is not the solution is great, unfortunately all that we see and hear tells a conflicting story.

The purpose of telling a child that "Violence is not the answer" is because we want them to have "healthy" arguments. I do not think that whomever came up with the whole "Violent is..." proverb thought about the war thing.

Yep. Most of history is about war.. look at the History channel - how many shows are about battles? Why do they call him Alexander the "Great?" Why name a salad after Caesar?

good one to ask
what about violent video games? seems parents dint have a problem with that either.
back to your question
NO WARS SOLVED AMERICAS PROBLEMS JUST INTIMIDATED AND PUT THE SCARE INTO OTHER COUNTRIES. AMERICA TRIES REAL HARD TO STAY ON TOP OF OTHERS BUT ONLY HAS THE KNOWLEDGE TO SHOOT AND KILL.
A REAL SHAME TO US HERE IN AMERICA THAT WE CANNOT HANDLE OUR AFFAIRS ANY OTHER WAY!
THINK ABOUT THIS ALSO BEFORE YOU HATE THE WAR GOING ON NOW IN IRAG.
THERE ARE MORE DEATHS HERE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY EVERY DAY BY OUR OWN PEOPLES HANDS.
THINK ABOUT IT
