I have heard a lot of bad thing about SOME (not all) modelling agencies and how they make you pay for photos and photo sessions before they take you on then never give you any work. Always check with the local Better Business Bureau.

NEVER GO ON YOUR OWN ALWAYS TAKE YOUR PARENTS!!!! BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU SIGN!!!

I think a better starting place before you go to agencies is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional or even that good just okay) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK. You should never have to pay to get a job if you do there is a high chance it is a scam.

However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.

Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.

PARENTS PERMISSION REQUIRED before i will do any work.
Also i may refuse to host any image if i think it is inappropriate.

Rule # 1 DO NOT PAY FOR SERVICES... TO ANYONE
Rule #2 DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACTS FOR OVER 6 MONTHS (Unless they're paying VERY, VERY well)
Rule #3 DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING THAT SAYS "PER LIFE", INFINITUM, etc. (you get the idea).
Follow those three simple rules and you'll have a goot start (I AM ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS)

DO NOT EVER PAY FOR "Fashion" or "Passarella" classes.
It's a waste of time and money and all you'll learn is bad habits (TRUST ME ON THIS ONE).

If you have the money for classes take dancing classes any contemporary dance class would do, except for hiphop (don't be stupid). Ballet of course is the best choice. You need to learn rythm and candence.

BE A SIZE 4, If you're six, you have chances but more limited, yes there are chances for "normal" people too, but if you're not within those sizes you're better off going to college and finishing a good career. Oh, and yes, if you're a model, you DO NOT NEED SCHOOL, models are brainless stupid, full of vanity people (yes TYRA BANKS is like that too).

Now if you really want to live the dream (of vanity and ambition) and you live in Miami, Los Angeles or New York you're already on board, otherwise (unless you have very supporting parents that are willing to relocate) you're screwed.

However at eighteen you can move (but that might be a little late <--- COMPLETELY SERIOUS).

OK, you have all the above all you need to find out now is the agencies in town, the non-cost way to do this is contacting an experienced photographer and ask what are the professional serious modeling agencies in town, then call them and ask when do they have their open calls, every serious agency have some, at least one a month. Show up and good luck.

Another way to get the list is buying it from your local "actor book store" eg Samuel French. Or from some stores in the internet (do your homework)

As a token I give you the classical scam.

You come into my "agency" for an "interview/audition".
I tell you how amazingly beautiful you are and what a brilliant future you have.
Oh, but there is a problem, I only had ten available plazas and nine are already taken and the last one is about to confirm.
At this poin you're already very excited after they tell you about how well their model's career's are going and how much money they're making. So you'll do anything to get that last unconfirmed plaza and say "I want to confirm"
So I say, OK, it's going to be $1000 US dlls, go to my secretary.
And you pay without even blinking or hesitating.

Trust me it migh sound easy "to catch" in paper, but in the practice is a a whole refined process based in a techinique by distracting the coscience and attacking the subconscience.

You're welcome.

first of all you are too young to be thinking about
getting into modeling.you should graduate high
school first.
second, how did you hear about modeling scouts?
there are alot of scams out there, don't believe
anything that they tell you.
as i read your question,i decided to log on to
modelingscouts.com and apparently the sites owner
is selling it.
once again,finish school,don't trust these so-called
modeling agencies 9 out 10 times it's a scam.

BE CAREFUL!!!

14 is plenty too youthful to be making judgements that influence your finished destiny! in case you have plenty capacity then wait yet another 2 years, you will nevertheless have it at sixteen, plus you may have slightly greater adulthood to circulate with it. i did no longer think of that any respected agency might employ 14 365 days olds besides. stay in college yet take great thing approximately all people-off opportunities that would come alongside and that don't compromise your college artwork - and continuously take your mom with you!
