Does intellegence increase the chance that a person will have high moral standards or care more about the consequences of their actions. Maybe, maybe not. Would the world be a better place if it were govorned and occupied with intelligent individuals. Is it stupidity that is causing problems in the world or is it ignorance? What's your opinion?

Intelligence without adequate education is not even remotely as useful, particularly for the world at large, as is intelligence that has been allowed to grow through exposure to good education and information. Ultimately, however, the world is presently being governed by a small class of rather intelligent individuals right now, none of whom appear to care about the condition of the world. Without a sense of compassion and a long-term perspective of consequences that outweighs any possibility of short term gain, an intelligent mind can easily produce more chaos in the world than benefit.

Good question!

I like to think it would be a better place if everyone were highly intelligent.

High intelligence usually results in an inquisitive mind. Inquisitive minds look for new challenges and answers to the difficult questions. Stupid minds are content with the status quo, and if they're not, they generally don't have the patience to figure out a way to make things better without causing trouble.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I think that a world full of highly intelligent beings could easily solve some of the most difficult world problems: famine, disease, global warming, religious strife, etc.

I also think that highly intelligent people are smart enough not to let ego get in the way of attaining a goal.

And finally, I think some of the worst problems of the world are due, simply, to stupidity.

If everyone was highly intelligent, then there would be no or very little common sense. I've not met anyone so far that is highly intelligent and had a minute amount of common sense. Secondly, the world's problems are probably caused by a lack of ethics not stupidity. Remember, if you are considered stupid, you probably don't have a lot of intelligence. Purposeful ignorance (my personal pet peeve), is knowing what is just plain wrong and choosing to either ignore it or pursue it. Of course, that's my personal opinion. What do you think? Or better yet, how do you feel about that?

no it's not okay to be stupid or ignorant.. intelligence quotient is no definition of superiority, all it tests is your ability to take that test. So if you find Mensa counter-examples, congratulations... you've proved very little about how r e a l education has an effect on the standards of living.

ignorance is not bliss, the ignorant may dream about thinking so, but it adds up to blocking off the entire social realm, suburbanization of the real-- which is a pitiful escapism.

Did women delight in their chores before they could go to school? The dark ages a cheerful time to live? The slave happy as can be?

I believe it is ignorance, we all know that global warming could be a huge issue some day, we all know that war has more consequences and risks that it does benefits but no one does anything about it. If everyone were highly intelligent we would just figure out more ways to make our lives better for materialistic lazy reasons. I dont think that our problems would end if we were all more intelligent, we would probably just create more ellaborate problems.

Sadly, no. If everyone were WISER, perhaps. Although superstition and bigotry are usually based on "ignorance" even removing these 2 things would not be enough. People would still fear the unknown and feel the need to "blame" others for various things. Only with wisdom would they see its not other peoples actions but their own inability to believe in themselves as the equal of others and vice versa is where the problem lies.

No it wouldn't, because than everyone is gonna try to out do everyone else and just cause more problem then what we already have to deal with it this world, but in my opinion definitely not.

Wisdom is: The Fear of God our Creator.
Ignorance is the root cause of our problems because we do not obey God's ways.
God is sending his son again and he will rule this Earth for 1000 years and set human kind straight.

No it would not. People would get bored, because they thought they knew everything, there would be nothing to look forward to.And it's mostly ignorance.
