The home kits are very sensitive and very accurate. They have to be or they might get sued. Yes, it can work as soon as two weeks, sometimes before you are completely sure that you missed a period.

Some pregnancy tests claim to be able to detect if a woman is pregnant 5 days before an expected period. As every woman is different, and we all produce the pregnancy hormone hCG at a different rate, some have to wait until their period is due, or even a few days afterwards to get a positive result.
When testing before your period is due, it is advised to test with your first morning urine because the level of hCG is more concentrated then.
I'm going to include the link to a trying to conceive forum that I think you might find useful. It's full of supportive and caring women with boundless knowledge about these issues. I learnt so much there that I doubt I would have learned otherwise.

Varies a lot woman-to-woman. My wife had negative test at home a couple of weeks after she should have had her period, but a week later was positive at doctor's office. Other women are + right about when their period is due. If your test is neg but you're still worried, wait a few days and take another, or see your doctor for a blood test.

They do have the ones that will tell you before a missed period, "Clear Blue Easy" and "ept- error proof test." Read the box and see what they offer. Make sure and get the brand that gives you two full test sticks. Test one at night and one in the morning.

I purely went to the health branch some weeks in the past for a being pregnant try, and they'd me take a urine try. At living house I took a Walgreen's sort try and a first reaction try, and both were given an truly faint 2d line. The nurse stated their try is in between both so a procedures because the point of hcg they try for, and that i have been given an similar result there, the 2d line truly confirmed up, yet they shown it as a large. Later contained in the week, I took my 2d First reaction try and it confirmed up 2 darkish lines without delay. i'm no longer positive if this facilitates in any respect, yet a blood try is def the most precise.

I think they say on the box that you can take some of them 3 days before you missed period. Of course, the pregnancy hormone becomes stronger day by day, so if you wait a few days past your missed cycle then you should have a clearer answer.

Also, your hormone level is higher when you get up first thing in the morning. That is the best time to check. If your test comes back negative and you are sure that you are, wait a week or two and then retest.
