Don't come to L.A.

It's too crowded, the real estate is too expensive, there are too many cars on the freeways. And don't come here looking for a job unless you have a college degree and work experience. There is no room for unskilled laborers. The average rent on a 1 Bedroom apartment in a decent area is over 1500 a month and in a crappy neighborhood 800 a month.

As far as cool? That's a stupid factor for selecting a city to live in. You go where the best opportunity for you to develop and thrive would be.

I wouldn't pick NYC or LA. Except for a vacation.

New York City is probably the best city in the U.S. Los Angeles is a toilet.

depends what you want opportunity in...Both cities are expensive and know for actors (NY has theatre, LA has film) Dallas, Texas is growing tremndously so if you're into getting a corporate job and affording a house, that's an option. Personally I love San Francisco, CA b/c the weather is great and it's city, but close to other things like wine country and farms.

They're two completely different cities that are both cool for various reasons. They both have ample opportunity for the people who live there.

New York, baby. And it's not because I am a New Yorker--it's a fact ;). Although when it comes to weatherwise, I would definetly go with Cali.
