I'll tell to mine if you tell me yours. I've recently discovered that there are other novels out there that don't have vampires as their main topics.

I have a bunch - I can't limit myself to one novel, or one author.

Ursula K. Le Guin
Robert A. Heinlein his early stuff before editors got scared of him.
Murray Leinster - the planetry explorer series
Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover books
Orson Scott Card - The Ender series
John DeCles - The particoloured Unicorn
Arthur C Clarke - the 2010 & Rama series
David Weber - The Honour Harrington Saga

I've only read one, and it is amazing, and also a classic.

2001: A space Oddyssey by Arthur C. Clarke

It's not like Star Trek where it's a bunch of people exploring space saying things that sound good but don't mean anything "we need to increase the blah blah on the blah blah ray"...It's really good.

It's kinda funny too because it was written in the 60's. So there's a space station on the moon that was built in 1990.

Sphere-Michael Crichton
This isn't a novel, but my favourite sci fi story is a story by Ray Bradbury. Its about alien mushrooms who take over you if you eat them. It has a chilling ending. It is the most cliched sounding story, but Ray Bradbury is such an amazing author that he makes it good.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I love everything he writes...he does write mostly science fiction. (But he's also written a few fantasy and a few realistic fiction books as well.)
