Warning-- this may be considered something of a spoiler for those who haven't seen the movie.
Butterfly effect is about a guy going back in time to try to change the past so that he and his girlfriend end up happy together. A note: sometimes, for love, some sacrifices must be made.
It's a good movie, interesting, and thought-provoking.

Its about a kid who later becomes Ashton Kutcher, and he's in school and he writes everything down everyday because he had problems when he was a kid...so he goes back and starts reading them again and he discovers he can go back to that moment and change it. The problem is it causes masses ammounts of hemeriging in his brain and he also discovers that if you change 1 little tiny thing it can change your whole life. Thats what the Butterfly affect is...its the theory that if a butterfly flaps its wings in south america, that cause a minor riple in the wind, causing a weather system to develop, that moves another one and it rains somewhere in Seattle. thats the whole theme...what you do everyday will affect the rest of your life..some things more than others.

Giving details would really spoil the fun of the movie because it has an element of surprise to it. That one dude had it correct though saying "changing your life if you could". Cool movie, worth seeing.

Its sort of like a time travel movie... this guy finds a way to travel back to critical points in his life and change decisions he made as a child. When he wakes up from his journey through time, his life is totally different, because of that one decision he changed...it goes on like that for a while...he realizes that he can't fix one thing without screwing up another thing...i won't tell you how it ends! mostly cause i forget...hope this was helpfull...

It was about how changing one thing can affect everything else. That whole "what if" factor; you mess with time, history, people, etc in the little things you do, what if you changed more important things? And, if you watch the alternate ending, you will not believe what happens ....

parallel universes or something. It was a decent plot, but the screenplay and script was really lousy... too bad.
