The heartbeat normally is heard around 8 weeks, but if an ultrasound was done there should have been some sort of beat. I would go see another doctor if I were you.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I do ultrasounds myself and it is tough to see these kind of situations where the mother has to wait. Now, is it possible that there will be a heartbeat when you go back, yes. But the thing that worries me is the irregular sack. That is a good indicator of a pregnancy that has problems from the start. I can't tell you what to do, or how to feel...but I would say just relax and maybe accept the fact that you have had a misscarriage...then if you do have one, you will be prepared, and if you don't, thats wonderful.

I was in the ER in early pregnancy for bleeding and it was very difficult to find a heart beat. They found the sac and the baby, and it was starting to look like they wouldn't find it, but then it showed up and it was barely this little flickering dot. I think I was about 7-8 weeks then. I might worry a little about the sac being irregular, but there's a chance it will correct itself if the rest of it is healthy. They're probably waiting a few weeks to allow the baby to grow. The baby might need to be bigger to find a heart beat. Try to hang in there. There isn't anything they can do besides try and see if it's there or not. In the meanwhile, watch for any signs of bleeding (bright red) or cramping and let them know right away. Be sure to note the time the bleeding or cramping started.

OK, the same thing happened to my best friend. She was terrified!! They even told her that she needed to have a D & C, but she wasn't convinced, she knew something wasn't right. She ended up going to another doctor and having a second opinion, and guess what?? The baby was fine. That doctor was able to find a heartbeat, and now she is 8 months pregnant with a very healthy baby boy.

Also as early as you are, you might not even be able to hear the heartbeat yet. I wasn't able to hear my baby's heartbeat until after 10 weeks. Good luck and God bless!! You are in my prayers!!

this will be a very difficult 2 weeks for you and all you can do is pray and be patient. Maybe you are right about it being 5 weeks, and at only 5 weeks it may be difficult to pick up a heartbeat on the ultrasound. Lots of luck and may God bless you and your baby.

that happen to me i went to hear the heartbeat from my obgyn and they could not find it then i went for an ultrasound and i was 6 weeks and they said in the ultrasound that there was no movement and no heart beat. I had a miscarge and that my body did not bleed it out like it should of so they had to do a D&C on me which is like what they do when you have an abortion. I am sorry to say but your baby is most likely not alive.

I don't know how much ultrasound technology has progressed, but when I was pregnant 13+ years ago, we weren't given ultrasounds until we were 5 months along because they weren't able to acurately detect anything until then. The best advise I can give is to go to another doctor and get a second opinion. Write down all the questions you want to ask him and don't leave the office until you get the answers.

It is hard not to worry, but the same thing did happen to my daughter twice when she was about 8 weeks pregnant on both pregnancies. She did miscarriage, but I guess it is a real common thing. Once advice have your doctor check your hormone levels. My daughters hormone levels were low and that is why she has had two miss carriages. When she decides to try again to get pregnant and the first day of a missed period she needs to start taking these prescription hormone pills right away. This will enable a good start for the fetus. Good Luck

Pray. Don't get too worried, miscarraiges happen, I have had three myself but I was also told with my last pregnancy that my baby was dead, The sac was gone and I was miscarrying, I went to another Dr 3 days later and there my baby was with a heartbeat. Miracles do happen, so pray and pray hard.

when i was four weeks i went to the emergency room due to really bad cramping... My ultrasound recorded no heart beat.. relax because usually the heat beat is heard in the early 8th week.... Wait till your bout 8 weeks and get another done..The only reason i got an ultrasound at 4 weeks was due to medical emergency i dont see how you got one a five weeks tho considering the fact most dont do ultrasounds before your third or fourth month... I got mine at my gyno at three months and my friend got her first at five months... anyways good luck....
