He eats solids w/ a little formula 3 times a day and the rest just a bottle. He seems to need food every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Is this too much?? I feel like I'm over-feeding him, but I know he wants food. I'm concerned that he is eating too much.

Perfectly normal. He should be needing food every 2.5 hours Also, babies usually hit a growth spurt between 6 and 7 months and will eat a lot. Enjoy it while he is eating, once he hits about 1 and a half eating will become a struggle..lol

No it is not too much!! It is normal for a baby to eat every 2-3 hours at that age.

Solids 3x a day at 6 months old is a bit too early. For solids, stick to simple cereals. He is too young to be able to digest and pull the nutrients from other foods. Only feed him baby food. No juice.

Set up an appointment with your sons pediatrician and go over feeding that is age appropriate for him now and in the coming months. You will be happy you did!

Babies eat what they need. There is a set standard for when a baby should eat what etc... etc... but you should go by what your baby needs. My daughter started eating solids at 3 months. We kind of got the hint when she grabbed food out of our plates and tried to gobble it up. She at one time would eat anywhere from 8 to 10 jars of baby food a day, and sometimes 15. She is two and a half now and weighs 34 pounds at 37 inches tall. She is quiet the athlete. So I would allow your child to eat his or her fill. Just watch the babies stools for irregularities like diarrhea, and the such. That is a quick sign of problems with food or digesting food. If you are Really concerned then talk to your pediatrician.

I believe that there should one span in a day where he goes about 6 hours without eating. I am a firm believer that babies eat when they are hungry and stop when they are full; we teach them to overeat. My daughter is 18 months old and she has 3 meals and 3 snacks a day and she is not overweight. Good luck!

He's probably just too hungry al the time. I do suggest you get him checked out just to make sure that it's really just a case of hunger and not a disease. There are several diseases that make infants constantly eat.

when you feed him solids, instead of giving him a lil bit of formula try substituting that with juice. and then 2 hours later give him his formula and then to nap. that is how i started feeding my daughter. formula starts becoming more like a drink, the older your baby gets. snacks also help keep hunger at bay.

this is my daughters feeding schedule:
*8/9am: 2oz infant cereal, half of yobaby yogurt, 5oz formula
*10:30am: morning nap
*12:30pm: half of "graduates lil entrees" microwavable dinners, 2oz of fruit baby food, 1-2oz of juice
*2pm: 5oz of formula
*3:30pm: afternoon nap
*6pm: other half of "graduates lil entrees" microwavable dinners, 2oz of fruit baby food, 1-2oz of juice
*8:45pm: bath
*9pm: 6oz formula w/ infant cereal
*9:30pm: bedtime

No he is probably having a growing spurt, he will get fat and then grow out of the fat, just keep him active, put him in a Jhonney Jump up.

If he is eating when *he* is hungry, it is not too much. If you are doing it because it is easier for you, it might be...and it also teaches him to ignore his own sensation of hunger and eat to please other people.
