Your dad isn't the best person to ask about this......do you have any female family you can talk to? If not, talk to your doctor or a female role model from school.

Why do you need to talk to him about your periods? If you have questions ask an intelligent female (just because women have periods doesn't mean they understand them!) or ask a health professional (family doctor.) If you have complaints about your period, level of activity you can manage due to unpleasant symptoms, etc., just tell him when they are occurring. Be proactive. "Dad, I have cramps right now. I'm going to take a Tylenol and lie down until they pass. I'll do the dishes after that." Don't use this one too much to get out of chores because he'll be on to you after a while.

If you just want dad to know that you are having them and/or you need money for supplies, just say, "Dad, I'm growing up now and I need money for feminine hygiene products."

Depends on how “open” you Dad is to the subject. Most men do not have to deal with their daughters asking about that because there are other sources of information I think if you ask you will have at least one positive thing happen in that your Dad will know you trust him with the most personal issues in your life. He may be able to answer or he will direct you to an appropriate information source.

Just tell your dad that it is time that you have a talk about your body changing and that the age you are, that you have reached a special moment in your life. Tell your dad that you feel close to him that's why you have chosen to talk to him. Or you could talk to a anut or cousin or a close relative about this.

probably awkward for both of you.
When I started my period I lived with my dad too, no mom around. It was embarrassing, no way around that.
Do you have an aunt or girlfriends mom that you can talk to?

Dads are not equipped to deal with this subject. If you have no mom then ask an aunt or grandma.
