Because they want to abuse themself, but instead take all their frustration out on something smaller and weaker so they don't feel the pain.

Unfortunately, people always want to blame somebody or something else when something goes wrong. Like having a bad day at work, money problems, you name it. So, who is the most vulnerable one around? The pet can be the first choice to take anger out on. It's sad but it happens. I guess I'm different. If I'm sad or angry, all I have to do is look at my cats' faces and it perks me right back up. You can only imagine the horror stories around the world of horrible things that happen to animals. I wish that people behaved more like animals...giving unconditional love.

Because they are following the example of their parents. It has also been proven that people that abuse pets are much more likely to have abusive relationships with people also.

Family issues...they want to take their anger out on something and they think that no one will know if they abuse an animal. And they think animals are not important at all. And their minds are messed up

I think people abuse the things that are closest to them. Animals give unconditional love.
Most animals can't tell you that you are a piece of crap for treating them that way. Most animals won't leave you or tell your friends or report you to the police.
Sometime animals run away.

Beacause they want to feel powerful, usually they are being abused themselves by someone else who wants to feel powerful. It is horrible and I'm glad is a crime! Don't hurt anyone especially your pet.

Because pets can't fight back. Weak, unhappy, mentally sick people abuse things that have no voice and cannot defend themselves.

to amuse theirsele'ves and is they do they should be put in some type of place where they can do any omre damage and if u wit ness abuse contact a grown up or the police

Some people forget that pets, like humans, have lives too
