I think you're tangling with some pretty serious stuff here, so I hope you're joking. I think I would pose a question back at you---"Why would you want to convince someone to take their own life?" In fact, I think someone who would want to do this actually has a strong deathwish him or herself. Anyone who wishes harm to others is actually wishing for harm to him or herself. I would encourage you to take a look at this as a possibility, then ask yourself, "Why do I want to commit suicide," or "Why do I want to put an end to life---any life?" When you find the answer, you'll find that you can no longer ignore that which is prompting you towards such thoughts. And you'll want to find a solution. Frankly, I don't believe in the whole traditional God and Satan thing, though I do think there is something out there greater than ourselves. Why don't you spend time developing your personal powers towards benefitting the world in a positive way, which is what we all really want deep down anyway. All the best to you, and don't give up your search for your authentic self.

First, don't talk to him about committing sucide, just take him and let him really have fun so he'll see the life is still ok and he will change his made then you would be able (as a commit sucide-protected friend) to let him know the gos exist.
Second I don't think that when someone desides to sommit sucide will tell you, even if you was his best friend.
