If they are going to put you on a family plan the major carriers are all pretty much the same as far as price goes I believe. Individual plans where you don't share minutes t-mobile I think has the most minutes right now with 1500 min. Its going to come down to who has the best service in your area though.

T-Mobile is the best, and has the proof to show it. T-Mobile has earned the JD Powers best in customer satisfaction award three years in a row, an is currently at the top for the fourth year. Also, the best overall Cell-site coverage and the best price on rate plans (the GET MORE guarantee). Go to www.t-mobile.com. There is a coverage map where you can plug in your address and get what your coverage is, you can choose a rate plan and phone on the web, and even activate your account online. If you prefer the personal touch, you can call 1-800-TMOBILE, or you can put your address into the store locator search for the nearest location

Also some companies only put four phones on one plan.

Right now, my family has a plan through verizon and they have five phones on it. They had to buy one phone and got the other four. I like verizon very well, since you have unlimited mobile to mobile and whoever is in verizon, it does not cost us to call them. Also we have better service in more places then we had with our old plan.

Also, another thing to think about, do you have a family or friends that you talk a lot to? What company are they through? Also does the phones you want, work where you live? You have to think about that also.

Well I hope this helps and doesn't confuse your parents more!
