She's almost 21 weeks old and has done very well on carrots, sweet potato, peas and, of course, cereal.

Now I'm wondering if it is a good time to introduce fruits. Which fruits are best to start with?

Also, how should I give them to her? Should I give them at the same time as her veggies, or separately?

It sounds like she's done well with a variety of different veggies, including sweeter ones like sweet potatoes and peas. I don't think you will have any problem introducing fruits to her. I like to start with bananas, they are simple and sweet but not too sugary. My kids were crazy about them.If she doesn't like them at first, try mixing them with veggies, or buy it premixed at the store (I know Gerber sells fruit and veggie mixes, at least they did when my son was a baby).

I give my daughter fruit in the morning. I feed her like I would feed myself with exceptions to her age of course. I started with pears then apples, etc. Applesauce and bananas can constipate so if she is prone to that then I would start with pears, peaches, prunes, pineapple. My daughter hates canteloupe but most babies love it. Fruits are great. There are recipes for babies that include fruit. I have not included fruit with veggies but for no particular reason. Check out www.wholesomebabyfood.com but I would suggest trying just the fruit to see her reaction.

Apples are good to start with if you want to use the jars. If you want to use fresh fruit, then bananas or really soft pears are good to start with.

You can give it to your baby either with a spoon or in one those feeder things they have at Target where you put the food into this mesh container and the baby sucks it out

Giving them as a dessert should work well. (after a good meal of veggies) and bananas are really good to start with. Start out with stage one baby food so tht she gets used to it. Dont give more than 1 serving of fruit a day yet. It is very sugary, and can be bad, especially compared to her food now! Dont start with apples or arages yet... they are very acidy (especiallly apples) and can cause her to get sick.

Most babys like applesauce. Mix it with the food she likes, it will take a couple of times for her to get use to it, but she will eventually love fruit.

I think you could really start with anything. You want to start with one and wait a week before you start the next one. Try pears. They are not to sweet and no to sour.
