I know that there is not a law against visiting the UK, I was just wondering how welcome I will be by the citizens of the UK. Any danger of hostility as I know we are not the most loved in the world at the moment. I am going on business but also wanted to see the sites while I am there if it is not dangerous

I don't know how much water this'll hold as I think of emigrating myself, but - just be a decent person and know men are all alike wherever you find them, some good, the majority not so good, and yet another group of utterly reprehensible types; and I think you'll be just fine in a world that is not perfect and far from paradise.

Personally, I wouldn't go to England much as I admire the English and have something of a cultural debt to them. It's like relatives. The more alike the more the sparks fly. Look at the English and the Germans; more in common than either will admit!

Bloody Hell, you are welcome in our neck of the woods any time. Although, whilst here, I would not dare you to call the game of football, soccer. For then it might turn into a fairly serious affair. HA! I'm not even from the U.K., but dammit that was fun. Why the hell can we not use words like 'Bloody' here in the states? I've been a long time 'Bloody' advocate and still it doesnt catch on. Ok, I'm done.

Huh?? Danger? UK? I think you're confused.... The states is a far more dangerous country... If we can accept asylum seekers - we can accept anyone - even Americans ;) grin.... I think you'll find that there are a "Few" American tourists in London...

Have fun! Enjoy the sites!!! (And don't forget to bring your hedgehog repellant!)

US Citizens are very welcome in both UK and Ireland. They add to the cross fertilization of ideas and thoughts, and their presence in this regard are very welcome in most countries worldwide. US Government foreign policy is open to debate, and it can on occasions be quite emotive. In Europe many people do question US foreign policy, particularily with regards to Iraq, Afganistan, and the Middle East. It is felt that US foreign policy is biased towards Israel aggression.
Neverthe less whilst US foreign policy can be discussed, and opposing viewpoints expressed, it is not considered a personal matter against any one private US individual, and as such, US citizens are more than welcome in the UK, as long as they are friendly, express their own viewpoint, and are not particularily rude to those they meet. We welcome all and any US citizens to Europe.

Bloody Hell! This isn't New York you know!
We like Americans as long as they're not gun toting rednecks.
You're unlikely to end up anywhere really dangerous, and in any case most of our gangs and villains would be flattened by your small children. All we have are chavs and you can spot them a mile off.

Absolutely. You'll should have no problems over here. Like anywhere else you'll always get some idiot having a go if you are unfortunate to come across them but that's life I suppose. (Happened to me in the States once, but I certainly never base my impressions of Americans on him.)

yes you'll be welcome. The english aren't as known for their hospitality as other nations, but we aren't hostile either. It deepnds how strong your accent is and also your intelligence. But the american ignorance thing is just a stereotype i suppose just like its a stereotype that british people all have bad teeth.

Briatin as a nation is known for welcoming in other nationalities it is part of its tradition.

If you're friendly, you'll get a friendly reception, although there are always one or two bad apples in every barrel. It's not your fault you have a dangerous idiot for a President. All major credit cards accepted!

Don't be so bloody ridiculous. Do you honestly think you will get attacked in the street for being American? All the stupid people here who would be liekly to attack you don't know enough about politics to know that they should hate america anyway. You'll be fine. Biring plenty of money and waterproof clothing.

i have to say there are a lot of idiots in the UK so it all depends on where you go. i was in the states last year and couldn't believe how friendly everyone was. i fear the same wouldn't apply for americans visiting us.
