My best friend just divorced her husband of 16 years in November. She still loves him and wanted to take him back. In May she caught him with another woman in front of the other woman's house. She talked to the this woman and she told her that they have been together for 6 years.

The last 6 years of their marriage. She has asked him what happened and he keeps denying everything. They are co-workers and she wonders if they really did break it off. He is always in another world and he tosses and turns all night. He denies everything.

I told her that he will always deny it. He never answers her questions so she decided not to ask anymore. But when she is with me she is always wondering. I don't think she will ever get over it. When they divorced she was a different person she was happy and relaxed.

I can't tell her what to do so I ask you all why did she take him back if she will always have questions and doubts?

I agree with Big Dad on that. She gets something from him that satisfies some need, even a bad one. It is sad that she needs to have this man in her life. Why she took him back could also be just that she loves him with her whole heart trust issues or not.
I would suggest that the next time she brings this all up to you suggest marriage counseling, it certainly can't hurt and may even help them. Also she may need to seek therapy for herself as she could be depressed (how could she not be?) maybe she can then find that elusive happiness for herself.

Somtimes we fool ourselves into thinking that it will get better, that the whole happily ever after is gonna happen. Only she can decide that she can't do it anymore. Unfortuantely you have to let the people you love make their mistakes and be there for them when things don't pan out.

she is stupid. very stupid. It fact, I know youre thinking the same thing. Like we all are. She is blinded by love for him. Even though she has doubts, its easier for her to believe him, then to be alone. She may have seemed like she was happier divorced, but it was probably an act.

some people are just afraid of being alone, and they will put up with almost anything, and some people just can't let go they think they will never find love again in life or are afraid of starting a new one with some one else

Love is Blind and if I were you I'd just mind my business b/c if something goes right or wrong you'll get thrown in it so just be supportive and listen don't comment ok!

She took him back because she wants what they once had but she will never get it. Happened to me, things will NEVER be as they once were, she is in love with her past not her present

It is not something you can explain unless you are in that situtation. Love is a strong thing. and you tend to think with your heart instead your head

Maybe she's worried she won' t find anyone else, or she was lonely. Do the best you can. Good luck.
