Um.
I can't tell if this question stems more from an abhorrence of Catholics or one of peanut butter.
I'm Catholic. As for the Church's teaching on sexuality, the main point is that sex is supposed to be something sacred between husband and wife. Its primary purpose is the procreation of more humans. Having it merely for pleasure's sake, without any openness to procreating a child, kind of destroys the whole point of the sex act.
As for the peanut butter, try organic peanut butter. It's a lot less like eating flavored shortening.

On a serious note , peanut butter is not like Plasticine, it is like plaster.
Also, sex is not so simple. It requires at least two people, and all the emotions that have evolved to hook those people together long enough to bring up a kid.
Good contraception is a rather recent addition and we're all dealing with the changes and challenges it has brought. I'd love some sex just for fun, but in practice, for people who care about themselves and others, it's rarely so simple.
Peanut butter eating ,on the other hand ,is fairly straightforward- it gums up your teeth, and if you use it to avoid sex related feelings you'll probably get fat ,but hey, celebates and married people need something to occupy them (us) !

There is nothing morally wrong with peanut butter, and if you think there is, something must be wrong with you. The Bible does not condemn the eating of peanut butter. However, it says for fact that God's intent was for sex to be a special thing between a husband and his wife. That's how it should be.

I'm not sure your premise is sound. Most (all?) Catholics do have sex for the joy of having sex. (Early in the marriage, the heteros do so also for the joy of having children).
Because the Pope in Italy and a few bishops reading "encyclicals" might say that sex is only for procreation, nobody believes nor abides by those starchy anachronistic ideas.
As far as your dislike of peanut-butter, that's a shame. One of the true and simple joys of life for this Catholic is a peanut-butter (crunchy) and apricot preserve sandwich (on whole-wheat) as a post-coital (non-procreative) treat...bread toasted, with a cup of coffee, and apple slices!

Dude, chill out! There is no such church doctrine that says sex for the pure joy of it is wrong. Just the opposite. If you have a Bible anywhere, read the Song of Solomon. It is all about the joy of sex. The English translaters no doubt toned down the heat of the erotic you would see in the original Hebrew.
Read the Book of Ruth. Naomi tells Ruth to go "lie on the threshing floor" with Boaz, the eligible dude. Ruth does, Boaz likes doin' Ruth, and voila! They are married and Ruth says "your God will be my God and your people my people." Sort of like "YES ... oh God!" There is so much more. You just haven't seen this because Christians are usually reacting against sexual excesses. You see, God never goes for cheap sport sex with a stranger. He tells us that our bodies are his temple and that we are to glorify him in all that we do. That leads to pure ecstasy and joy and the best sex in the universe.
You got a problem with any of that?

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other and have joyful sex.
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Fornication, sex between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, is contrary to their human dignity and the dignity of human sexuality.
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
With love in Christ.

Being a human is being joyful.Period. Being something else like politician, Christian, Catholic, gay, straight, pour, rich, handsome, ugly... name it , is being something other than Being a human. Then Joy becomes relative, subjective or erroneous choice to be experienced in many of created by Catholics and other beings, funny forms. Have you ever heard how joyful is to create political drama where those to be killed within is not actually counted? Those who love politics knows that 'joy"..Those who is in charge of Catholicism also know it...so it is not about outcome, it is about forms of enjoyment people choosing of being something other than simply Being a Human.

I know what you mean, but there's nothing else in the house. As for sex, who cares what Catholics think? They're on the same level as Voodoo in my book.
