Because it's a badge of honor. It means you can bring a life into the world. After you live with it for 26 years, and more, you get over that.
Yes, it can be messy and painful, but it's not the end of the world either. As you become more mature, you will learn to deal with it better.
Though I do agree that being pregnant and then nursing my children stopped my periods, for anywhere between 2 and 3 years at a time.

Periods are not the most appealing things to have, but they do serve a purpose. Some women like to get their period to clean out their body and make sure they are not pregnant. I personally don't think it's as great as it's cracked up to be, but I understand that it does serve a purpose.

Because it lets you know that you aren't pregnant. Also it is all a part of being a woman, trust me when you are 50 and going through menopause you will miss it.

I hated having my period - 2 days of major cramping + 5 days of solid bleeding & then getting them 2x a month?! NO thanks! I loved being on the Deprovera - no period for 8yrs :)
BUT it's not for everyone & women should research possible side effects and then consult their Dr's.
