Most babies have their final eye color by 6 months. Almost all do by their first birthdays. But there are exceptions; some babies' eyes still change color after a year old. And eyes can even change to a related color (for example from blue to gray) in young adulthood.

But you *may* already be looking at her true eye color. And if she *does* end up with blue eyes, it means that every child you have together will have a one in four chance of having blue eyes. Two blue-eyed parents can *only* have blue-eyed babies, but parents with brown (or green) eyes can have babies with blue.

My pediatrician said that by 6 months of age, all of the color is deposited and the true color will come out, although I have heard of people not seeing the true color until 1 year. Just as a side note, my brother and his wife have brown eyes and no one in the family is blue eyed and both their sons have blue eyes. You can never tell!

Do you know anything about genetics? Well, the gene for blue eyes is a "recessive" characteristic which means if the parents have brown eyes but carry the gene for blue eyes on their chromosomes then it is much more likely that their children will have the color with the dominant gene--brown eyes.
Sometimes, however, the gene for blue eyes "pair up" in the baby when he is conceived, which means he will have blue eyes even though both the parents have brown eyes.

You can definatley see the change of eye colour within the first year. All babies are different, but im sure thay start changing from around 6 months.
The baby`s eyes may not be brown and could take the genes from another member of the family.
