The way they said it, the tone, the facial looks, all are clues. If in doubt, simply ask point blank, "Excuse me, but were you being sarcastic?". That usually put the person on the spot.

It's partly by the look on their face and the tone of their voice.
It's easier to tell if you know the person and can recognize those things easier.
Otherwise, be cautious but let them express their truth. It shouldn't bother you if you have faith in your own.

i was wandering same thing the other day ,i was thinking why do women like humour that is put down to them their confidence,intelligence,body,and are attracted to it,sarcastic is wrong it is out down.
