I would like to give a worn (but still intact) fiberglass tub a new coat texture and color but have read that you really need to know what you are doing. Hoping that someone in this field of specialty work could elaborate.

I hired someone to resurface my tubs in my rentals and highly recommend doing so yourself. They have very specialized equiptment to do it, they use very toxic chemicals, come dressed in haz-mat suits and respirators, put up plastic and tape off everything else in the room and literally seal themselves off while they are resurfacing. It really wasn't that expensive, it took them all day, though, to repair and reseal each tub enclosure.

Definitely call around though.
