Just wondering whether or not it's harmful to your car to use 10W30 oil when the car requires 5W30? I went to have my oil changed and they didn't have 5W30, so they used 10W30.

A lot of manufacturers recommend alternating bewteen 5W-30 and 10W-30 between winter and summer, so it won't make a difference. Depending on who you talk to, where you live, and how you mostly drive (city or highway) some people might recommend you use 10W-30 all the time, or vise versa, but it won't have any effect on your vehicle. I used to worry about that too, but basically I found out, every car made since about the mid 80s or so is fine to run on either kind.

Doesn't matter, 5W30 is just a little thinner in the morning. Not much difference. I personally always use 10W30.

yes, there is a difference, but it's probably not going to damage your vehicle. check your owner's manual in your glove box for further info
