If your husband eats only lets say apples, then his sperm would have one smell, not like apples but one smell. your bodies chemistry would also have an impact on the scent, but not to change it from let's say 'good to really bad' .
Sperm is sperm. The smell should always be nearly the same. Sometimes smells if BAD could indicate something wrong.
Foods, medications, vitamins, etc even illness can cause a change in sperm smell. And or taste.
Also is it possible you might be smelling an older sperm one time and fresher some other time?
I think if you are smelling sperm you are concentrating TOO much on conceiving and that can only make things go a bit "OFF" meaning stop smelling and counting things and just have FUN!
Below 1st link is what other women have to say.
But this 'cut' is from the MD that answers the questions there.
semen smell is nauseating (by Louanne_Cole_Weston on Jul-08-06)
I would recommend that you stop the asparagus and then see if there is a change. Also, sometimes when a man ejaculates a little less frequently than he usually does, there can be a less pleasant smell to his semen. Have him increase the number of his ejaculations (by partner sex or by masturbation or both) and see if there is a change.
If not, I would recommend a urological exam.

It depends on both of your diets.
Some things men and women can eat will change the smell and taste.
I am almost 8 months pregnant and I've noticed a change in smell on my part. And before I got pregnant, there were times when my boyfriends sperm smelled and tasted a bit different.

I can't believe you asked this question...I thought I was the only one!
When I first became pregnant (and didn't know it yet), every time my husband ejaculated inside of me, it would omit a strange smell...and that had never happened before. It was almost like a strong amonia smell. Is that what you're experiencing? I really don't know what causes it, but I thought I'd let you know that you're not the only one. It hasn't happened since then, so I haven't brought it up to my doctor. You might be right regarding the increased fertility and such (since it happened to me when I concieved and shortly after that). Also, I'm not sure that it's our diet since I don't smell ahead of time and neither does his sperm...it's only when he ejaculates inside me.
Either way, best of luck with everything!

Bodily fluids taste and smell different depending on what you eat, and other hormones involved can change their smells as well. Smells are also different based on your body chemistry. That's why no one can copyright perfume scents and there are so many knockoffs of perfumes. Have you ever noticed that a particular perfume or cologne might smell great on someone else but when you try it on yourself, it just stinks?

I've heard of it, but never actually smelled it, as far as I know. I did work near a men's cologne counter in college (I worked Menswear at Marshall Fields) but I doubt any of those fragrances contained anything that expensive. I think that experience has made me allergic to perfume. I can't use air freshener, normal soaps or shampoos or even regular laundry detergent.

What is he eating? For example, asparagus will change both smell and taste.
I am curious, however, how you can smell your husband's sperm once it gets into your vagina?

A friend of mine had the exact same thing and it happened to be that she had some weird bacteria growing, it was not her husband's sperm so you might want to have that checked.

yeah, the food he eats can affect the smell (and taste :)) of sperm...like, broccoli and other veggies make it less salty.
and you're right too, your hormone changes affect your smell...
