It means you want to increase the size of the piercing. A 14-16 gauge is the normal size for a body piercing (belly button, etc) while a 00 and 0 gauge are significantly larger holes. The larger the hole/jewelry, the smaller the number.

It means that they want to stretch out the pierced hole to fit a plug that will hold thst size gauge. A gauge is also called a "plug", Its sinple a plastic or wooden round piece that fits into the piercing hole that has been stretched out. I used to know the entire sizing system, but I forgot. It is a very painful process and stretches out the skin, so it looks flat and wierd if you don't wear the gauge.

When they say guage their peircing they mean "upsize" that is where they put larger rings through the smaller holes and stretch them out.
When you get a peircing they put in a ring that is anywhere from 12-16 ga.
The smaller the number the bigger the ring. The larger the number the smaller the ring.
Personally I think it is gross... but to each their own :)

It is the diameter of the stud of the piercing. A larger gauge is a larger hole.

It's the girth of the post that goes in and/or makes a hole. I believe the smaller the number, the wider it is.

It means like get a bigger pole on the earing, to make the hole in their ear (or wherever it is) bigger! Totally gross! When you "gauge up", you get a thicker earring so that the hole in your ear or wherever else it is gets gradually bigger!
