I think Jennifer b is actually the stupid one here!!!!!! I teach adult literacy and numeracy and just because they have difficulty in this area DOES NOT MAKE THEM STUPID!!!!! there are many things my students can do better than me, I even had a learner who was in the MOD (Ministry Of Defence) Police who needed help with reading and writing, therefore does that make him stupid???? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! It makes him a very gutsy man for standing up and admiting he has a problem and needs help.. People like Jennifer B have no right to kick them in the guts for doin so. She is the stupid one here, NOT YOU!!!!! PEOPLE LIKE THIS MAKE ME SOOOOO ANGRY, THEY HAVE NO IDEA OF THE DAMAGE THEY CAN DO WITH SUCH EVASIVE REMARKS LIKE THESE!!!!!!!! personally I would report her for abuse. Good luck sweetheart!!!!!!

I know you are just miffed at Jennifer B for calling you illiterate but I think your question warrants a serious answer too as it touched a nerve in me.
I needed to return to work when my daughter was 10wks old. The Family Day Care people assigned my daughter a lady who could not read nor write. What I have learnt from knowing her for 19 years is that people who consider themselves to be intellectual have nothing on her. She is the most compassionate and common sensical person I have ever met. She doesn't let logic get in the way when you have a personal problem. She asks you to consider with your heart instead.
She has practically raised hundreds of children for working parents in the time I have known her and every single child she has spent time with adores the heck out of her, as do their parents. Even if a child hasn't been in her care for ten years, when they see her in the street they run to her and hug her. She is such a ray of sunshine and a breath of fresh air. She mispronounces words and sings off key, but loves people with a passion. If you need to move house, she is the first one to help pack boxes with you. If she thinks you have no money she will hide it in your purse when you are not looking. If you need a shoulder to cry on, she is right there.
I defy anyone out there to tell me that just because someone cannot read or write that they should not have children. I would give up every IQ point I have to be even half as good as my dear friend.

Not at all, and I understand why this hurts. I would like to point out to BONYSLAR that babies are not easy to get for some people. I've been trying over 2 years and am currently waiting for IVF where my husband and I will be subjected to embarressing, difficult and painful procedures and examinations including daily injections. So don't assume everyone takes babies for granted.
As for people saying you are taking this personnally, are you so short sighted that you can't see this as an extremely emotive subject? Put yourself in the posistion where you have been trying unsuccessfully for a baby for a long period of time, and then some one says you don't deserve a baby. Can you not see how hurtful that is? People with fertility problems ask themselves 100 times a day, what have I done to deserve infertility? so it doesn't help.
I wish you all th best with ttc, and hope you can rise above such insensitive comments.

For goodness sake, does it matter if you can spell or not? When bringing a child into the godforsaken world, the main thing that is important is that it is loved unconditionally.
Some people who have children can't read, let alone spell, but that doesn't make them bad parents.
My husband can't spell, so by JBs theory, does that make him an inadequate parent? I don't think so as he loves our little boy to pieces and provides for him in so many other ways.

I think it's a terrible attitude for anyone to have if they are saying that someone who cannot spell should not be able to breed. I think there are many seriously bright people out there who have dyslexia and similar conditions that would make far better breeding stock than someone who is so prejudiced about something like spelling. She is being extremely offensive.
People should think of the offence they are causing to many people. This forum is for anyone to ask questions. Please leave offensive answers at home

Well I feel like you are mixing up two subjects that are in their entirely different. I agree with Jen, see, if you make a habit of misspelling words because that is how you spell them in a text message that is really bad, Are you going to teach your kids text message language? The language was meant to have rules, and that is why we go to school, to learn them, and the other subject that you are comparing this with, is completely different, people with dissabilities.....well.....who said that they can have babies on most cases? most of them live in the care of their loved ones because they are, as the word describes them, "disable" and it is a shame that you, a person who seems to be in "working conditions" -mentally speaking- still keeps misspelling words. By wrtiting this message in this board you might be confusing people on how to correctly spell words, and by the way.......english is not my native language, but I still feel the same way about my language, its rules in grammar should be respected. Have a good day.

I think you are taking this too personally. This is Yahoo Answers or, as I like to call it, the Idiot Forum. I have seen incorrect information being chosen as Best Answer!!! She isn't the expert. She doesn't know you, why are you giving her so much of your time?
To answer your question, I think there should be some control on who can have a baby, yes. Maybe then we wouldn't find them in Dumpsters and born addicted to drugs. If they were difficult to get maybe folks would treat them better.

i would have to personally agree with you, ppl like JENNIFER B should just shut there traps and get over them self. It's Obverse she has her head to far up her @$$ she cant see daylight! Having children has nothing to do with having a learning disability, ppl with bad attitude's towards ppl and putting ppl down and being disresectful SHOULDN'T HAVE CHILDREN!.... My mother had a learning disability and left school at 13 and i am a A+ Student! im @ medical school so having a learning disability shouldn't mean you shouldnt have children that is why you send your children to SCHOOL!

Just ignore the criticism. With those types of questions you will get all kinds of stereotypical and opinionated answers. If you feel in your heart you are ready for a baby, go have one. Good luck to you and your future children.

I am coming to the conclusion, that answers, is a total waste of time,if this represents a snap shot of people in UK then they show they only think of trivial things. such as people cant spell, when the world is on the brink of anarchy.
