I think stress can be a psychological problem. However, I think it depends upon the person and how that person deals with things. For example, there are things I can handle easily while a friend in a similar situation falls apart. I think extreme stress can lead to depression because if someone is constantly working, mulling something over, not taking time for oneself, the person can get so overwhelmed he/she doesn't know which way to turn and perhaps gives up and becomes depressed.

How you deal with stress is the cause of many psychological problems. Many people can handle large loads, other's cannot. Those that can't can sometimes become depressed or withdrawn to deal with the stress.
