A general rule of thumb I like to use is they cannot be older than your parents or they cannot have been over 18 when you were born. That takes some of the creepiness out of it. But 4 years is nothing provided they are both of legal age.

sure, why not?!! I am with someone that is 13 years older than me and I plan on marrying him. I know someone that married a guy 20 years older than her, and they are still happily married after over 20 years. Age doesn't make a difference, as long as both are of legal age and they get along and don't have a problem with the age difference. If she doesn't have a problem with the age diff, then why would you? If I were you, I would be happy for my sister.

Heck no there are not any issues of marrying someone that's 4 measly years older than you!!! Oh my goodness!!! i'll't believe that your moms and dads do not consider this! Is it her age that's putting them off!? if so, they prefer to stop being so ridiculous. 4 years isn't some thing!!! (till you've been doing some thing unlawful, like being 15 and she or he replaced into 4 years older which in a lot of states is unlawful) yet besides, that's extremely dumb to enable age come between you 2. in case you want one yet another, then certain you should get married if that's some thing you extremely want. My fiance is 10 years older than me! i love it. he's mature and is conscious what he needs out of life and is not out partying each of the time. Our households are superb with it! do not worry about it, age isn't some thing yet a quantity mostly...and no there should not be any sexual complications in the destiny (for her besides, women do not sexually height till they hit their 30's or 40's!!!!!!!) So do not sweat it!

As someone who happens to be 4 years older than her husband and married for 10 years, I think that age shouldn't matter as long as two people are compatible with one another! The only concern I would have would be with HIS family. Make sure that THEY are OK with it, otherwise your sister may live a life of pure hell dealing with them when she marries into the family. (For example, my husband and I get along great and age isn't an issue; however, my in-laws seem to think that I'm a "cradle robber" and love rubbing my nose in the fact that I'm an "older woman." *rolls eyes* It's only when I have to deal with them that I wish they didn't know my real age!

Why not? Is there some sort of age restriction on love? Is there a double standard here? Only the woman can be younger? If they are both within the legal age to be married & are in a mature loving relationship, wish them luck & don't get hung up on age.

The older we get, the less difference that 4 year difference will become--some how the age thing evens out as maturity happens!
For HER, it is good, because women tend to outlive men, and if she stays with him, her chances of having him there for her in the late years is improved by another 4 years--thinking statistically, that is!
Good Luck to All!

i was always taught that 2 years diffrence is acceptable while under 20 when you are in your twenties 4 years and 30s is 6 years .40s is 8 years and so on but it was a way i was raised to understand that there is somthings that maturity cant overcome and to big of an age gap early on is a hardship in a relationship that how ever overcomable why would you want to add on the extra disadvantage in an already hard thing....... marriage.... congrats to your sis and good luck to her and her beau

I always say "Age is mind over matter...if you don't mind, it doesn't matter!!" Marrying someone younger (or older) can actually broaden your experiences (haha not THAT way!) by sharing the perspectives of someone of a different age....
