A pyre is a fire burning a body or body part, like cremation but was usually performed outside when people are watching and showing their respects in earlier times.
If you've ever watched Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi when Anakin Skywalker dies Luke sets him on fire. This would be a pyre.
