Should I ask that ? about being BLUE??? LOL

;) Myself, I believe what makes the BEST avatar is when the individual achieves a fairly-good in-depth self-portrait: I honestly worked HARD to CHOOSE the best options where mine WOULD be! :D

[I am honestly even MORE blue in my DL pic.]

Mine turned out to be an internal self-portrait combined with an external one--it looks like the sum of my self: philosophical, medical, all components considered, an image of the inadequately-breathing dead, a way of being honest with myself in regard to my overall health picture, a coping mechanism in its way [just like my nick, I think they make a good match]. ;)

I think that is the BEST way to reflect one's overall look, if one does in fact capture the WHOLE of one's *look*--looking outside AND INSIDE, the honest facts of their lives.

In that sense, I believe my avatar is a declaration that I am at peace with myself, my life, my fate, which is a gift I would wish for anyone on the path to happiness. :)

I think overall the avatar system is fun, light-hearted, and I actually appreciate the somewhat entertaining way to express my more macabre reality. ;)

I mean, where else can you find such a *cute* way to visually express that I have lost my ever-lovin' mind than that pic showing me there holding my head after it's gone and rolled off? ;)

I also appreciate that it gives ALL users the chance to sort through what they value, how they perceive themselves, how they wish to appear vs how they DO actually appear...what they hope to see in the mirror vs reality...whether they like ALL their components...whether they like THEMSELVES...key factors brought to light by your excellent question--THANKS! :D

If you portray yourself as black, then it wouldn't be unreasonable for people to assume that you are. The image is more likely to express your race to others than your name, though some names might lead some people to make a guess as to what race you are.

Your name on its own would not have made me assume you were black. I would expect people to choose an avatar that most closely represents them when choosing a human image, so I would assume you were based on that. However, I look for questions that intrigue me and I am typically not observant enough to check avatars unless they really stand out. I would not have noticed your avatar had you not specifically made your question race related.

Not that you asked that, but I thought you might find it interesting that some people are more interested in who you are based on your questions and answers than what you look like.

I think it would not have anything to do with your name, but that your avatar would let people assume that the person that the avatar is representing is black. But I don't think people on the internet think too much about the person behind the avatar. Do you?

One could posit the question as to why you would select an avatar of a black male if you are neither.

I can only go by what information is given, as I am unable to secure additional information.

Demetrius is a romanized Greek name. Your avatar looks to be Northern Indian from the sixties. How'm I doing? What was the question? Oh yeah, You'd have to ask everyone who saw your avatar.

I don't try to assume anything about your name or avatar. Anybody can chose any avatar or name. Don't try guessing who's behind an avatar cuz you will never know.

I accept your avatar as a representation of who you are. I accept the information I see, and assume you would like to be identified as you appear. Your cartoon appearance does not stop me personally from answering your question. Peace, Brother.
Thanks for the 2

I was not aware that Demetres was a common African American name. Sounds like the misspelling of Dimitirius a Russian or Greek commonly used name.
