I'm travelling there in a few days and I'd like to know what alternatives I have to travellers cheques and carrying wads of money around with me!

You can use a Maestro or Visa card. It's good to have at least a little amount of money on you too though while you're here, especially if you go to smaller cities or villages, because you might not be able to pay with a credit card everywhere. There are ATMs in all cities though.

Enjoy your trip!

Check whether verification is by signature or chip and pin. US citizens are now having difficulties with "plastic" in the UK as it is all "chip and pin" and the facilities for signing are no longer there.
I don't know the situation in the czech republic - but it might be worth finding out.
Have a good trip

Yes you can although most cash points dont allow you to see your balance which is bad if you get drunk and know you used one but dont knoiw how much you took out! try and set up internet banking before you go but find out from someone about putting details on a computer, i dont know what the score is about people accessing it once youve used it??Enjoy your trip!
