It is not really possible to say exactly when there was a first man or woman because of evolution's gradual nature...

It also can't be said that the first human was male or females because individuals don't evolve - whole populations do.

The earliest modern humans (Homo sapiens) are believed to have appeared around 100,000 years ago. The first humans of all are believed to have arisen around 2 million years ago (Homo habilis).

However, a lot of this is rather fluid as paleoanthropology (study of prehistoric humans) is a very rapidly developing science constantly advancing through new discoveries (unlike the thought processes of the creationist posters polluting this science thread!)

Silly Bible nuts, Adam and Eve is a parable. Human existance evolved over time so there was no first man or woman. There were a few symbolic Adams and Eves in ancient Africa many millions of years ago who are known as Super-Ancestors. (think back when TV was black and white) They are the ones to whom all humanity is decended. Ghengis Khan, and an Irish King named Niall of the Nine Hostages are also Super-Ancestors. Together they are related to about 30,000,000 men on this planet. Puts a whole new spin on "Who's your Daddy?".

I have no idea which gender of human was the first to be born from the species that we evolved from, and it would be nearly impossible to find that out. The term "mitochondrial Adam and Eve" refers to changes in our gene structure that happen to all humans. Mitochondrial Eve came first because the X chromosome has less things to make it distinct than the Y chromosome, meaning the changes are easier to spot. Anatomically modern humans are believed to have first appeared roughly 45,000 years ago, at least that is when their fossils first started showing up.

According to the Bible, it was a man - Adam. Then Eve.
But according to the latest discoveries, it was a women. At least the oldest skeleton found on Earth belongs to a woman and was named Lucy. It had been found in Africa, in the region of Kenya, and proves that people evolved from that region. That means the fist people were black.

The sexes differentiated long before the human species arose, in fact long before all the mammals appeared. You need to trace evolution back to the very origins of sexual reproduction, which was millions of years before the first creatures left the seas and colonized the land.
