Have them get wiped out by a cardboard asteroid?It would depend on age,with this one.If it's little kids playing with them,make some cardboard scenery and just let them play with them.The asteroid would amuse older kids.It would amuse me.

Make dioramas. You could make the ancient plants as well using a nice, large flat square of cardboard.

make a giant fire ball and throw it into the cardboard masses. then you can teach little kids how the dinosaurs were wiped out
